Through my pre-internship and internship I have acquired the ability to plan lesson plans which developed into engaging unit plans. My ability to create a lesson plan and more importantly a unit plan has grown a great deal. I feel very comfortable in my ability to plan extensive units. My lesson plans are very detailed and contain many aspects that engage students in the learning process.
I have had the opportunity to develop various unit plans for the grade 3/4/5 level. I developed an extensive integrated unit on Decision Making, which related to the Social, Health and English Language Arts Curriculum. I also created a subject specific unit plan on Communities Around the World. During my three week block I was able to teach all subjects except Science.
During my pre-internship I developed a unit in Health on “A Healthy Lifestyle: Nutrition, Physical Activity and Body Image” and a unit in the Arts on “First Nation and Métis Dance.”
