I used target sheets for each lesson to document what my abilities were and where I needed to improve. From each target I received feedback that I was on the right track “mastering” my target. There were still little things I need to work on in each area and once I accomplish those I can choose different targets to “master.” Overall I learned that I can always continue to develop professionally. From each lesson in my additional comments section there were things that I should work on in my next lesson. I think that it is so important to continue reflect on your teaching choose targets in which you want to become stronger in. I think when this is done it will keep you a “fresh” teacher.

Through my internship I was able to become more comfortable in the teacher role. Being comfortable and confident in this role allows me to be able to manage the class better and use the routine I have set out. I have developed a relationship with the students and they respect me and I respect them back. I think this is my biggest area of strength because helps me to keep a well-managed classroom. I was able to ask some students to leave the classroom to re-gather them self because they were disrupting the class and the lesson. This allowed the rest of the class to continue. Therefore, I think my ability to be comfortable and confident in the classroom is my biggest strength.

What I would still like to work on is my direction giving and explanations. I think sometimes I am unclear of what I am trying to say, but I assume the students understand.

I think my main educational theme is focusing on the learning of the student. I think a teacher’s main priority should be the student’s success and their understanding. It is the teacher’s duty to be flexible and able to adapt to that the students need. I think when a teacher is able to do this there will be success for both the teacher and the student.

Through my internship I was able to develop from learner to professional. I have developed “with-it-ness” as a classroom teacher and this helped me with my management. Something I continually need to develop and work on is anticipating classroom problems and disruptions and planning for successful management.
